Glove manufacturer Top Glove has recently unveiled two new examination gloves: the LiteGuard Lightweight Latex examination glove and the ElastiCore Accelerator Free Nitrile examination glove. The glove designs aim to reduce hand fatigue and minimise skin sensitivity across sectors, including healthcare and laboratory work.
Nuclera launches nanodisc panel
Biotechnology company Nuclera, which enables access to high quality proteins, has launched its nanodisc panel to support screening and scale-up of G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs). “Since releasing our membrane protein workflow in 2025, we have identified a huge potential in the market to support GPCR protein scientists,” said Nuclera product manager Dr Audrey Dubourg.
Partnership to bring AI precision to cancer biomarker testing in global clinical trials
Tanaka Mirai Lab, part of Tanaka Precious Metal Group, has developed an experimental unit for space molecular crystallisation using gold (Au) nanostructure formation technology.
Stanford research unveils live cell analysis technique
A recent study has examined a label-free microscopy technique, interferometric image scanning microscopy (iISM), which is designed to deliver high resolution and contrast in live cells with substantially reduced light dose. The research was conducted by Dr Michelle Kueppers, lead author, and Dr W. E. Moerner, professor of chemistry and by courtesy of applied physics at Stanford University.
Global clinical trials impacted by Middle East disruption
https://staged.scientistlive.com/login New Phesi data shows 6.7% of global clinical trials impacted by Middle East disruption New analysis from research company Phesi of 65,061 globally recruiting clinical trials across 186 countries finds that 4,361 studies, equivalent to 6.7% of all active trials, are impacted by disruption in the Middle East.
SPT Labtech enables automated library preparation on its firefly platform
SPT Labtech, leader in the design and development of laboratory automation and liquid handling solutions, has launched its validated automated workflows for Twist Bioscience’s next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation kits on its firefly liquid handling platform. Developed through a collaboration with Twist Bioscience, the workflows are designed to support higher-throughput, more reproducible NGS library preparation and are accessible directly through the firefly cloud.
The science behind SwiftFluo TR-FRET kinase kits
In the rapidly evolving landscape of drug discovery and molecular biology, sensitive and high-throughput detection of kinase activity remains a cornerstone for target validation and inhibitor screening. Kinases, which catalyse the transfer of phosphate groups from ATP to protein, lipid, or nucleotide substrates, are key regulators of signal transduction, cell cycle control, and metabolic regulation.
Beyond antigen recognition
In the rapidly evolving landscape of biotherapeutics, the success of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) hinges on more than just antigen recognition. While the Fab region dictates specificity, the Fc region (Fragment crystallisable) governs the molecule’s clinical fate—influencing everything from half-life to immune-mediated effector functions.
Initiative launched to advance ALS research
The ALS Therapy Development Institute, medical charity LifeArc and life science company Axol Bioscience have launched patient induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-based research to improve sporadic ALS modelling (PRISM ALS). “Our hope is that the stem cell models we produce can unleash a new generation of treatments that could be effective against this disease by slowing its progression and, ultimately, curing it,” said LifeArc head of MND Paul Wright.
New Zeiss Crossbeam 750 FIB-SEM
Zeiss has unveiled the new Zeiss Crossbeam 750 focused ion beam-scanning electron microscope (FIB-SEM), optimised for demanding sample preparation. It can provide a live, high-resolution “see while you mill” view, under any imaging and milling conditions, enabling immediate feedback and eliminating milling interruptions to produce uniform first-pass transmission electron microscopy (TEM) lamellae and precise FIB cross sections.
