Four Canadians set for major test at the Amundi Evian Championship
The fourth major championship of the LPGA Tour season takes centre stage this week at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Évian-les-Bains, France. Elevated to major status in 2013, the Amundi Evian Championship is the youngest of the five major championships in women’s golf. Canada will be represented by four players this week. Two-time major champion Brooke Henderson leads the way alongside young professional Anna Huang and amateurs Lauren Kim and Aphrodite Deng.

Beaconsfield Golf Club in Montreal recently unveiled its completed renovation by architect Jeff Mingay, whose work touched all parts of a golf course originally conceived by Willie Park, Jr., in 1904 and overhauled by Stanley Thompson in the 1940s. Mingay restored Beaconsfield’s bunkers to Thompson’s distinctive style, removed trees, adjusted fairways and implemented new tee decks.

Nesbitt breaks through, Henderson falls short
Drew Nesbitt went from being an alternate on Monday, with short odds of even getting into the Korn Ferry Tour’s Memorial Health Championship, to the man in the winner’s circle come Sunday. The 30-year-old from Horseshoe Valley, Ont., opened the tournament with an 11-under 60 and followed that with rounds of 67-65-66 to win by one shot over American Cole Sherwood. It was the rookie KFT member’s first victory on the Triple-A circuit and moved him 122 spots up the points list to 22nd.
