Check Point Research has published its global threat intelligence findings for August, showing that organisations faced an average of 2,422 cyberattacks a week. That was up 4% from the previous month and 22% from a year earlier. The data points to growing pressure across several attack types, with ransomware incidents rising, phishing activity increasing, and risks linked to workplace use of generative artificial intelligence remaining widespread.

Commvault has introduced Active Directory Pre Recover, a tool designed to help organisations maintain access to identity services when cyberattacks disrupt production systems. The solution is designed to reduce Active Directory recovery times from hours to minutes. It creates a clean standby copy of Active Directory inside an isolated, air-gapped Cleanroom environment.

ScopeTel and Orange Business in Malaysia have signed a memorandum of understanding covering work in Malaysia and the wider Asia-Pacific region. Rocket Software has launched Rocket z/Assurance, a risk and compliance management portfolio for IBM Z environments. Red Hat has launched Red Hat AI 3.5, adding tools for AI safety, observability and multi-tenant infrastructure management. The release is Red Hat's latest effort to position its AI software as a platform for companies moving from pilot projects to broader operational use. Among the main additions is the general availability of EvalHub, designed to help organisations assess AI models before deployment.

Australian business and technology leaders are less confident in the AI systems used inside their organisations than their peers in the US, UK and Japan, according to Fujitsu research. The survey found 70% of Australian leaders were not fully confident in their organisations' AI. The findings point to a clear gap between trust in AI and reported business results.

Proofpoint has released research showing Australian Chief Information Security Officers are taking on expanding artificial intelligence risk management duties without matching increases in resources or expertise. The findings point to rising pressure on security leaders as breach costs intensify. Its 2026 Voice of the CISO study found 79% of Australian CISOs were expected to manage AI-related risks without a proportional increase in support, while 85% said generative AI posed a security risk.

Wavelink has signed a distribution agreement with AirBridge Networks in Australia, bringing AirBridge Networks' Rapid Network Infrastructure portfolio to Wavelink's channel partners. The agreement covers deployable communications products designed for situations where fixed network infrastructure is unavailable or cannot be easily installed. A Good Certification Group has become one of four certification bodies worldwide accredited by the Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand to certify against ISO/IEC 42001:2023, the standard for AI management systems. The accreditation places the Australian-owned company among a small group able to assess organisations against what is described as the first international standard for AI management systems.

UiPath has published survey findings on enterprise adoption of agentic AI, showing that many large organisations remain in the pilot stage. The survey covered 590 C-suite and IT practitioners at companies with annual revenue of at least USD $1 billion and a minimum of 1,000 employees, excluding public sector organisations. Fewer than one in three respondents, or 31%, said AI was fully embedded in their business.
