NETSCOUT today announced enhancements to its Arbor Edge Defense (AED) solution that helps enterprises maintain the availability of revenue-generating and mission-critical applications against sophisticated DDoS attacks that evade or bypass content delivery network (CDN) DDoS defenses.

Kaspersky informs about a novel Android malware targeting vehicle Head Units – systems combining multimedia and, in some cases, car control functions. Taking the form of a stealthy multi-stage downloader, this campaign marks the first documented case of malware infecting a car’s head unit through an infection chain explicitly tailored for these vehicle systems. The goal is to deploy multi-stage malware that would enable carrying out ad fraud and other malicious activities.

Corelight announced the appointment of Amanda Berger as chief customer officer. Berger brings more than 25 years of experience leading software and SaaS companies across cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, ecommerce and business intelligence. Veeam Software announced it has been named a Champion – the highest category awarded – in the latest Omdia Global Managed Backup and Disaster Recovery (BDR) Leadership Matrix. The Omdia Leadership Matrix evaluates vendors that play an integral role in driving backup and disaster recovery (BDR) success across the managed service provider (MSP) ecosystem. Cohesity announced updates to its Aspire Global Partner Program. New Kaspersky research into phishing activity leveraging legitimate cloud platforms has revealed over 390,000 such attacks have been carried out in the last 12 months alone. These campaigns leverage trusted services such as Cloudflare Workers, Vercel, Netlify, GitHub Pages and IPFS to carry out sophisticated multi-stage attacks and even bypass multi-factor authentication.

Obsidian Security recently announced $85 million in Series D financing led by Crescent Cove Advisors, with participation from all existing investors, including Greylock Partners and Menlo Ventures. The round follows accelerating customer growth, with more than 100 customers now spending over $100K annually and over 14 customers spending more than $1 million today.
