Search Articles10 Travel-Sized Beauty Products That Will Make It Through Airport Security
If you’ve ever been personally victimised by the 100ml liquids rule at airport security, raise your hand. Trying to fit all the hair, skin and body products you need for a holiday into the equivalent of a plastic sandwich bag is not for the weak. We’ve been there: gently stretching the bag to fit in as many bottles as possible; looking longingly at the security-desk bins, where your slightly-too-big moisturiser now sits (the one that was slightly-too-expensive in the first place).
Faith, Desire, Erasure: Portraits Of Queer Muslim Life
Photographer Camille Farrah Lenain’s work often begins with questions. Take her latest photo series, Made Of Smokeless Fire: an intimate portrait of queer Muslim life in France, which serves an exploration of questions that went unasked; of answers that never came. “Made Of Smokeless Fire is an homage to my uncle Farid, who passed away in 2013. We lost him tragically, and with him went so many conversations we never had,” she says.
Books To Read Performatively In An Airport
There’s nowhere quite like an airport to signal your cosmopolitan mindset, worldliness and sense of adventure. All it takes is the right book tucked under your arm as you wait to check in; laid carefully among your belongings as you pass through security; or held aloft as you browse its pages by the gate – the cover alone signifying a sense of character without you having to say a word.
Dua’s List: Recs For Date Nights To Remember Around The World
Really, a good date comes down to the company. But if one thing aside from that guarantees a great night, it’s the location. Live music spots where you can’t help but dance; restaurants with the perfect combination of soft lighting and great food; bars with a vibe so good, you shut it down. Here are 10 spots where the venue does most of the work for you – on a dedicated Google Map here, ready for you to save.
What Happened To The ‘Beautiful Game’? You’ll Find It With These Grassroots Football Teams
If the previous two FIFA World Cups had critics and activists fired up, this year’s edition has surpassed them both. Then, the ethics of host countries Russia (2018) and Qatar (2022) were in question. Now, with matches across North America, mostly staged on US soil, there’s been a magnifying glass over the corporatisation of the ‘beautiful game’.

10 Things You Absolutely Don’t Need But Will Want Anyway
You know the items we’re talking about: the ones you add-to-basket on a whim; the kind you ‘save’ when they crop up during an Instagram scroll; or gravitate towards once you’ve spotted them through a shop window. Are they necessary for everyday life? No. Are they useful? Actually, yes. And will they bring a smile to your face when you come across them throughout the day? Absolutely. Reason enough for a payday purchase, if you ask us. A Bag Solely Designed To Hold A Baguette This is exactly as it seems.
Nancy Bowen Stood Up For Women Before #MeToo. Her Art Now Tells That Story
Nancy Bowen still remembers the day in spring 1999 when a Columbia undergraduate came to her office asking for help. The student wanted to report her concern that a professor, Thomas Roma, had “acted in a sexually inappropriate manner” towards her. Nancy, then an assistant professor and the only full-time female professor in the visual arts faculty, brought the allegation to the department chair. What followed, Nancy says, was isolation.
Inside Porto’s Manifesto Library: The Service95 Book Club’s Permanent Collection at Livraria Lello
On 27 June, inside one of Europe’s most storied bookshops, a different kind of library is opening its doors. The Manifesto Library is a permanent collection of 100 books, housed within the cultural auditorium at Livraria Lello in Porto. A partnership between Service95 and Livraria Lello, it’s the first physical expression of our founder, Dua Lipa’s vision: for the Service95 Book Club to become a home for writers and readers, wherever they are and whatever their circumstances.
Books That Inspire Hope When The World Feels Dark
Humanity has always grappled with the need for radical hope in dark times: our attempt to reason the unreasonable; to make sense of a nonsensical reality. Across centuries this hope has been captured by the works of writers who have documented and searched for meaning during volatile times. In moments like these, when the news cycle is relentless and requiring our attention, it makes sense that we may turn to books to offer a different lens through which to view the world.
