London and New York, April 8, 2024 – Allen & Overy (A&O) and Shearman & Sterling (Shearman) today announce the first partner promotions for the combined firm, A&O Shearman. A total of 40 partners have been elected to the partnership by their current respective firms. A&O elected 32 partners and Shearman elected eight, consistent with the relative size of the two firms and their geographic footprints. They will join the A&O Shearman partnership upon the merger closing on May 1, 2024.

News April 05, 2024 Asia Regional Managing Partner and Head of Greater China Lorna Chen was appointed by the Hong Kong government to the Resolution Compensation Tribunal (RCT) as a panel member for a term of 2 years commencing from April 1, 2024. The RCT is a statutory tribunal established under Hong Kong’s Financial Institutions (Resolution) Ordinance (Cap 628) (FIRO) to hear appeals from persons aggrieved by the specified decisions made by the resolution authorities and independent valuer.

Shearman & Sterling is advising Genmab A/S, an international biotechnology company based in Copenhagen, Denmark, on its proposed acquisition of ProfoundBio, a privately-owned Seattle-based clinical-stage biotechnology company developing next-generation ADCs and ADC technologies for the treatment of certain cancers, for $1.8 billion, payable in cash at closing.
