Filmmaker Romain Gavras and music producer Surkin build worlds where music and image feed each other until you can’t tell which came first, a track summons a film, a film feeds back into the track. GENER8ION: Visions of 2034, their first major exhibition, fills 180 Studios in London, and opened on the same day as their debut album Love & Tears. Ten audiovisual works, each set in a near-future city, each built around a song.

The 1980s was an era of resistance against social conformity. Heightened consumerism, widespread use of personal computers, and a simmering pop culture infiltrated the world of design — from furniture to graphics, products, illustrations, and architecture. This phenomenon called for radical creativity, boldness, and vigorous color schemes. Perhaps no other designer embraced unconventionality and unpredictability during this age more than Italian maestro Ettore Sottsass (1917-2007).

Running until September 23, Mori Art Museum showcases “Ron Mueck,” the artist’s first major solo retrospective in Japan after eighteen years.

Inspired by Hakone’s natural terrain, which developed from centuries of volcanic activity, the showcase fosters the symbiosis between Hakone’s innate beauty and art.
