Wipro Kawasaki Precision Machinery has proposed a ₹1,000 crore investment to set up a new hydraulic pump manufacturing plant at Harohalli in Karnataka, which is expected to create around 1,200 jobs. The proposed facility will come up in Phase V of the Harohalli Industrial Area. Wipro Kawasaki has sought 30 acres of land for the project, and Karnataka Large and Medium Industries Minister M B Patil said the government would facilitate the land allocation.

TCS iON, a subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services, is offering its Career Edge – Young Professional programme, a free 15-day online course designed to help young learners prepare for jobs and interviews. The programme focuses on skills needed to enter the workplace. The course covers interview preparation, digital and IT-related skills and workplace etiquette.

TCS subsidiary HyperVault AI Data Center Limited has secured 264 acres in Hyderabad to develop an AI data centre campus with capacity of up to 1GW, according to a September 5 exchange filing. The purpose-built campus will serve frontier AI companies and hyperscalers. It will support high-density GPU deployments for AI training, inference and other advanced computing workloads. The development will be carried out in phases based on customer demand and technology requirements.

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has shifted key Universal Account Number (UAN) services to the UMANG app, allowing members to generate, activate and authenticate their UAN through Aadhaar-based Face Authentication. The change applies to both new EPF members and existing members whose UAN is yet to be activated. The EPFO member portal now clearly states that direct UAN allotment and UAN activation through the portal have been discontinued.

Volkswagen Group’s India business plans to reduce its workforce by about 12% by 2027 as part of a three-year restructuring programme aimed at lowering operating costs ahead of new vehicle launches and future investments in the country. The restructuring is being carried out by Skoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL), which manages the Group’s operations in the country. The programme started in 2025 and is now being accelerated, according to reports citing people familiar with the matter.
