In the fast-paced, seasonal world of ski resort operations, training new employees efficiently and effectively is a significant challenge. For resorts operating in winter only and staff numbers fluctuating from a few dozen in the summer to as many as 500 by peak season, ski areas must find ways to onboard workers quickly while maintaining high safety and service standards.

On March 7, Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah, invited the community to celebrate the grand opening of the new Hoodoo Express chairlift and beginner terrain located in the new Deer Valley East Village resort gateway. Guests of all ages enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon on the slopes, featuring free skiing on Hoodoo Express, live entertainment and complimentary Deer Valley treats.

SOS Outreach, a national youth development non-profit that cultivates a sense of belonging through outdoor-based mentorship, offered parents of its program participants the opportunity to learn how to ski or snowboard for the first time ever. Thanks to support from Northstar California Resort and Vail Resorts Epic Promise, complimentary lift tickets and rentals were included. Of the 20 parents who participated, the majority had never skied or snowboarded before.
