Kwara: PDP rejects agency’s N100m exorbitant campaign advertising levies
The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has rejected the newly imposed political campaign advertising permit charges introduced by the Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency, KWASAA. The opposition party described the levies, ranging from N2m to N100m, as illegally excessive, unjustifiable and capable of creating a financial barrier against opposition parties and their candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Police, residents foil kidnap attempt, rescue traditional ruler in Kano
The Kano State Police Command has foiled a kidnapping attempt in Garun Mallam Town, Garun Mallam Local Government Area of the state, rescuing the Sarkin Noman Kano, Alhaji Yusif Nadabo, from the abductors. ‘Cybercrime’: DSS suspends Sowore’s trial until after 2027 presidential election
The Department of State Services (DSS) has directed its counsel, Akinlolu Kehinde, SAN, to seek an adjournment of the alleged cybercrime case against African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, until after the 2027 presidential election. The move, according to a source familiar with the matter, is intended to allow Sowore to fully participate in the electioneering process without the court proceedings constituting a hindrance to his political activities.
Tinubu begins three-week annual leave, departs for Europe
President Bola Tinubu has begun a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave. This was disclosed in a statement by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Sunday. The statement said Tinubu will depart Abuja on Sunday (today) for Europe. His first stop will be London, United Kingdom. According to the statement, President Tinubu is expected to return home after the working vacation to join the hectic campaigns for the January 2027 election.
Dangote increases petrol price three times in eight days
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has raised its gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly known as petrol, by N65 per litre, barely three days after its last increase. The latest adjustment, which takes the refinery’s gantry price from N1,200 to N1,265 per litre, takes effect on Saturday. It is the third price increase by the refinery in eight days, bringing the total rise within the period to N100 per litre, or 8.6 per cent.
