Interview: Mumbi Hinga and Safia Amadou on Africa Film Fest Addy Fong had a chat with co-directors Mumbi Hinga and Safia Amadou about the Africa Film Fest. Thank you for sitting down with me to chat about the Africa Film Festival. Can you talk about how the program has changed from your first year (2024) to this year? What have been the challenges given your festival it’s still new? Mumbi: Yes, this is our third year. We would still say we are emerging.

Getting to know Tanya George We asked Melbourne electro-soul multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and award-winning performer Tanya George to tell us about herself: I am… a full time singer songwriter musician, the world’s best hugger who always shows up for people and loves everyone a lot! 2026 has so far been… the best year of my life. Haywire has been a fixture in the American hardcore underground for years, carving out a sound that sits at the intersection of classic East Coast muscle and a harder, meaner breed of street punk.

System of a Down and Faith No More announce Australian tour For over a week now, something’s been going on. Red hand murals lifted straight from System of a Down’s self-titled 1998 debut turned up on La Trobe Street in Melbourne and around William and Crown Streets in Sydney. A projection lit up a building in Brisbane showing that same hand alongside the cover art from Faith No More’s We Care a Lot. No dates, no venues, and no promoter attached to any of it.

Searows announces debut Australian tour Frontier Touring will bring Portland songwriter Searows to Australia for the first time this November, following the release of his sophomore album Death in the Business of Whaling. Searows – the project of Alec Duckart, broke out via TikTok in 2020 and self-released his debut album Guard Dog in 2022, recording and producing it alone on GarageBand.
