We have made the decision to reduce Bungie’s workforce, affecting a significant number of employees, including most of the Destiny team and some Marathon team members.

At Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), the company behind the PlayStation brand, we are continually exploring new ways to push the boundaries of visual computing and deliver richer, more immersive gameplay experiences. Today, we are pleased to announce that SIE has entered into an agreement to acquire Cinemersive Labs, a UK-based machine learning and computer vision company.

Launched in 2020 as an employee-led initiative, the Apprentice Pathway Program has grown into a meaningful talent pathway at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Since its launch, the program has welcomed more than 200 individuals across cultures, social economic status, backgrounds, and experiences, creating pathways to impactful careers in technology.

When I was growing up playing on my Atari in the 80s, my parents never really worried about what my brother and I were up to. We were in our living room, right in front of my parents, and they got to dictate how long we were allowed to engage in this little “hobby.” Fast forward to 2026 and the rules of the game have changed vastly. Gaming, especially online, has become so much more than just a pastime for kids. It’s a much needed space for creativity, self expression, and connection.

As we reflect on Safer Internet Day, an annual global initiative that emphasizes the importance of online safety and encourages responsible use of technology, we reaffirm our dedication to creating a safer gaming environment for our PlayStation community. Supporting Safer Internet Day aligns with our commitment to fostering player safety and wellness across PlayStation.

Sony Interactive Entertainment, Nintendo, and Microsoft continue to collaborate to improve player safety across our platforms since we first announced our shared commitment to safer gaming.
