Denbighshire County Council are progressing with capital regeneration works following grant funding from the UK Government. UK Government confirmed their intention to provide just under £20 million of LUF grant funding for seven capital regeneration projects within Rhyl, Prestatyn and Denbigh, as included within the grant application for the former Vale of Clwyd constituency.

Denbighshire County Council have awarded the contract to manage the Queen’s Market in Rhyl to Midlands Events (Rhyl) Ltd. Working in partnership with the Council, Midlands Events (Rhyl) Ltd will play an integral role in managing the day-to-day operational management of the Market venue, which is set to open this summer. This work will include working in tandem with the vendors, the staging and promotion of events in the large events space, and looking after the day-today operations of the Market.

On Thursday 29th May, North Wales rock legend Mike Peters will be laid to rest. As a tribute, Sound Radio will be broadcasting a touching podcast featuring memories from those who knew him well. On Wednesday 28th May at 7pm Pete Mac from “Back in the Day” will be playing some of his favourite tracks by Mike Peters & The Alarm for an hour then at 8pm Pete will be joined in studio 3 by Kevin Hughes, Ian Clayton, Tony Lee and Dave Parry when they share fond memories of Mike Peters.

The event, which is organised by “Run Wales”, was their biggest yet with crowds gathering of competitors, friends and families there to help support the runners. The day started with a “Fun Run”, which is aimed at younger runners and anyone that just wants to run a shorter distance. This event still attracted quite a crowd with some of the youngest runners being 9 years old with adults running alongside.

Denbighshire County Council’s Play Ranger service has released this summer’s ‘Let’s Play Out’ schedule, which includes play sessions at 20 locations throughout the county. Featuring a mix of locations which span the north and south of the county, ‘Let’s Play Out’ sessions are child led, meaning children can choose what they do or what equipment they want to use freely.

Young pupils from Bodnant Community School in Prestatyn have joined forces with North Wales Police and key partners to raise awareness of online safety in a project that places children at the heart of digital education. Over a period of two weeks, the school’s Mini Police team, supported by North Wales Police Youth Engagement Constable Melanie Cartledge-Davis, worked with the Force’s Cyber Crime Team and Get Safe Online to explore aspects of staying safe online.

A scenic but tough Half Marathon set in the beautiful Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. Starting and finishing in the town of Llanrwst which played host to the World Trail Running Championships in 2013. The park is a region of haunting beauty and grandeur, of wild rocky mountains, hidden valleys, cascading rivers, still glacial lakes and deep forests. The Sound Radio Team was on location with the Sound Radio Road Show in Llanrwst at the start and Finish line.
