PARC Forum: B eyond LLMs — How AI is reshaping scientific discovery
For decades, scientific progress has been shaped by a fundamental process: hypothesis, experiment, iteration. AI is changing that, compressing the space between insight and discovery. The World Economic Forum’s 2026 Top 10 Emerging Technologies report finds this shift already reshaping fields as distinct as cancer treatments, energy storage, and environmental remediation. This session asks what that shift means for the researchers and institutions navigating it.
A new science teaching assistant, powered by AI
Artificial Intelligence, education, News and stories A new science teaching assistant, powered by AI July 1, 2026 SRI’s LOVE Science project integrates education expertise, LLMs, and video to make science relevant and effective for students. Many teachers use video to explain science to elementary school students. By integrating AI, SRI’s LOVE Science platform helps teachers find relevant, high-quality science videos without spending hours searching.
Evaluation of Instructional Coaching for Tech-Enhanced Approaches to Mathematics (iCoachTEAM)
SRI partnered with Digital Promise to conduct a rigorous evaluation of its Instructional Coaching for Tech-Enhanced Approaches to Mathematics (iCoachTEAM) under a federal Education Innovation and Research (EIR) early-phase grant. iCoachTEAM trained district- and school-based instructional coaches to support middle school math teachers to use technology to support students’ conceptual understanding and to conduct formative assessment.

SRI, leading nonprofit R&D institution, today announced that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has expanded its collaboration with SRI to ensure U.S. leadership in quantum manufacturing.
SRI’s Self-Cooling Paint earns a spot in WEF’s global tech report
SRI’s Self-Cooling Paint is highlighted in the World Economic Forum’s Top 10 Emerging Technologies of 2026 section on passive radiative cooling materials and ranked #3 among the year’s most consequential emerging technologies. SRI’s paint is cited for its ability to reduce surface temperatures by up to 15 degrees below ambient conditions on grid and building components.
SRI’s AI Center celebrates 60 years of AI impact
In 1966, a team at SRI set out to answer a groundbreaking question: Is it possible to build a computationally based system that can reason and act like a human? That was the beginning of SRI’s Artificial Intelligence Center, which this year marks 60 years of sustained AI contributions. The AI Center’s first great experiment was Shakey the Robot, the world’s first physically embodied AI system.
