As of April 2026, USPSA and Steel Challenge reached a major milestone: 45,000 members. That’s the largest our organization has ever been, and it’s more than just a number, it’s a testament to the passion, growth and dedication happening across every level of the sport. To hit 45,000 members is exciting, but what’s even more important is what it represents.

Leupold has a new full-sized red dot on the market, and it’s aimed squarely at shooters who wear their optics out. The LCO Pro F2 arrives with a redesigned aluminum housing, a reworked lens system and battery life measured in years rather than months, positioning it as the company’s answer for competition, duty and defensive use. The optical system centers on a premium aspheric lens, which Leupold recessed into the housing to cut glare and shield it from impact.

ULM, Germany — Krieghoff hadn’t run its namesake trophy competition since 2005. That changed June 13-14, when the German gunmaker brought the event back to life at Dornsberg Shooting Ground as the centerpiece of its 140th anniversary celebration, and 232 shooters from 13 countries showed up for it.

The pitch behind SIG Sauer’s new Hexium suppressor line is simple enough. Quiet the rifle without shoving extra gas back through the action. Four models cover three calibers (5.56 mm NATO, 7.62 mm NATO and 300 BLK), every one built around a 3D-printed core whose baffle geometry was shaped specifically to hold back pressure down. Back pressure deserves the extra attention. Run a suppressed semi-automatic hard and excess gas makes itself known: recoil impulse sharpens and carbon builds up faster.

CICERO, N.Y. — Six days of registered targets, a Tuesday start and the first All-American points of the new target year await trapshooters at the 41st annual ATA Northeastern Grand American, running September 8-13 at the New York State Amateur Trapshooting Association Homegrounds in Cicero, New York. The tournament kicks off ATA’s 2027 target year as the first of the season’s Satellite Grands.

After more than two decades with USPSA, I’m still learning valuable lessons. I recently shot my first complete match in more than a year. I know what you’re asking: How can the Director-at-Large not shoot a match in over a year? I will explain more in a moment, but competing made me reflect on my journey with USPSA and the lessons I’ve learned over the years. So why didn’t I shoot much in 2025? Some of you know the story, but I wanted to share the lessons I’ve learned.

EAGLE CREEK, Ore. — Nine years running, the outcome at the Oregon State High Power Championship has carried the same name at the top. Team Berger’s James Fox won the 2026 edition of the NRA Registered Tournament June 27-28 at Douglas Ridge Rifle Club, claiming the Oregon State High Power Open Championship title for an unprecedented ninth consecutive year and his 11th overall state title.

ACCOKEEK, Md. — Five years ago, breaking a clay target at 180 yards with a shotgun seemed like the outer edge of the possible. Professional exhibition shooter Steve Gould, who set that mark in 2021, has now moved the edge considerably: a 110 mm clay target broken at 201 yards, the first time any shooter has crushed a clay beyond the 200-yard line.

Legendary firearms shooter David Tubb has left the range. David was an incredible innovator in the firearms industry, credited with many excellent creations for shooters all over the world. His love for the industry and for extreme accuracy shooting was unsurpassed at any level. His personal shooting skills will remain in history as amazing, remarkable and at times unbelievable. Perhaps his shooting accomplishments will never be achieved again.
