This enchanting coming-of-age story explores the magical fantasy world of childhood and the transformative power of imagination, as it follows one extraordinary summer in the lives of sisters Satsuki and Mei. In order to be closer to their mother while she recovers from an illness in a rural convalescent hospital, their father moves the family to the countryside.

New play Invisible Animal will open at the Omnibus Theatre in Clapham this October. Tom Manning’s piece will run at the London venue from 17 October – 4 November 2023. Inspired by writer and actor Tom Manning’s experiences growing up autistic in a world built for neurotypicals, Invisible Animal follows Tom as he faces up to his internalised ableism. Tom is challenged by the alter egos that help him navigate a neurotypical world that often fails to see him as the person he really is.

The 2010 movie Burlesque is heading to the stage with a new musical adaptation. Work is underway on Burlesque: The Musical, written by the film’s director and screenwriter, Steven Antin. It will include songs originally written for the movie by Christina Aguilera, Diane Warren and Sia, together with new songs by Todrick Hall and Jess Foley. According to Entertainment Weekly, the show is being executive produced by Aguilera, and the plan is for a premiere production in the UK.

An all star cast will lead a one night celebration of LGBTQ+ representation in new musical theatre. Sheffield Theatres has announced a new line up of shows for early 2024. From heartfelt dramas to thought-provoking plays, these performances promise to bring a diverse range of stories to the stage. In the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield Theatres will present a new revival of Arthur Miller’s timeless masterpiece, The Crucible from 2 – 30 March 2024.

New British musical Cable Street is to make its world premiere in London. Bringing to life a vital part of London’s rich diversity and history, Cable Street runs at The Large, Southwark Playhouse Borough from 16 February – 16 March 2024.

Rachel Tucker will perform a solo concert in London this November. The West End and Broadway star will play Cadogan Hall on Sunday, 5 November to mark the release of her latest studio album on Friday, 27 October through the record label Westway Music. Tickets are on sale now here. Joining Tucker will be special guest, West End star Jamie Muscato.

Lucie Jones is to star in a concert of new musical SuperYou in the West End. SuperYou has a book, music and lyrics by Lourds Lane. The musical revolves around a comic book artist who embarks on a transformative journey, finding self-love and her unique voice as her superheroine creations come to life.

Casting has been announced for the return of My Neighbour Totoro in London this year. Based on Hayao Miyazaki’s 1988 animated film, My Neighbour Totoro will begin performances at Barbican Centre on 21 November 2023 with tickets on sale now. My Neighbour Totoro follows the journey of sisters Satsuki and Mei, who relocate with their father from Tokyo to an old countryside house. There, they uncover a realm of enchanting creatures, including the colossal forest spirit Totoro, living nearby.

Michael Ball 2024 tour dates have been confirmed as the musical theatre legend heads to stages the UK with his On With The Show concert. The performer, radio and TV presenter has a career spanning more than 30 years with roles in iconic musicals such as Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, and Sweeney Todd. Joining Michael Ball on his tour will be Grammy Award winner Amy Wadge.
