Welcome to a new Morning Skate in a new month, folks! It only took me three days into the month to get September started, so we’re clearly not in mid-season form around here, but that’s OK. With the calendar turning to September, new routines will begin for many people — whether that means your kids are going back to school, you’re back to school yourself, or something in between. While the NHL machine hasn’t fully cranked to life yet, there are signs of activity on the horizon.

Welcome to a new week, fearless readers! The last full week of August is upon us, which means the ramp-up to hockey season is just around the corner. Get stoked. While there was little in the way of on-ice news or happenings last week, there were some cool B’s-adjacent items from the past few days that we can catch up on here.

The Bruins will be heading back to Europe next season! The NHL announced this morning that the B’s will play two games in Munich, Germany, during the 2027-2028 season as part of the league’s Global Series. This marks the Bruins second franchise EuroTrip during the modern era, with the team also playing regular season games in Czechia back in the 2010.

Another week is upon us, folks! The August days slowly tick away as we get closer to back-to-school (in Massachusetts, at least, as I know other parts of the country may already be back). If that has you feeling down, you can take solace in the fact that the return to school means we’re at least getting closer to hockey season resuming and you having more interesting things to read than my morning ramblings.

As Boston Fleet of the PWHL transition to their new home at the Agganis Arena, they’ll be joined by two new faces behind the bench. Get to know the coaching staff! Francois Methot – Head Coach Methot joins the Fleet as their third head coach in four years as former Head Coach Kris Sparre will lead the PWHL Hamilton team this season. Methot has more than 11 years of coaching and player development experience, according to the Boston Fleet.

Welcome to a new week, folks! We’ve reached the middle of August, that time of year where the creeping dread caused by the end of summer starts to rear its ugly head. Eat at Arby’s. Things remain pretty quiet around the NHL these days, which is almost a relief given the frenetic pace of moves and news earlier in the summer. As we move toward the middle/end of the month, we’ll try to have some more robust content on what to look for this season, is the team any better, etc.

Welcome to another summer edition of the Morning Skate, folks! As we move through the first week of August, we know that hockey is the foremost thing on your mind, so thanks for stopping by. We’re a month and 16 days away from the B’s first preseason game, so we’ll do our best to fill that space accordingly.

Welcome to the last day of July, folks! August is just around the corner, meaning we’ve got one more month of summer and about six weeks before things start heating up again for the Bruins. (I’d argue that early September can still be considered summer in the New England area, but that’s a discussion for another day.) Let’s catch up on some minor B’s-related happenings from the week.

The Boston Globe’s Jim McBride had a piece on the Bruins’ recent trend of drafting tall blueliners, something that certainly doesn’t appear to be a coincidence. Mikey Eyssimont certainly sounded like a player who didn’t expect to be back in Boston next season when he spoke at the end of the last campaign. Boston Sports Journal points out how he remains in the mix and wonders what happens next.
