WPBI-LD, virtual and UHF digital channel 16, is a low-powered dual Fox/NBC-affiliated television station licensed to Lafayette, Indiana, United States. Owned by Star City Broadcasting, LLC, a partnership between Waypoint Media and upstate New York-based Vision Communications, it is a sister station to ABC affiliate WPBY-LD (channel 35) and radio stations WAZY-FM, WBPE, WSHY and WYCM. The six stations share studios on South 18th Street in Lafayette;[2][3] WPBI-LD's transmitter is located on McCarty Lane on the city's east side. The signal is oriented to the northwest.[4] On cable and satellite, WPBI-LD1 is available on Comcast Xfinity channel 16, Metronet channel 11, and Dish Network channel 59; WPBI-LD2 is carried on Xfinity channel 17, Metronet channel 12, and Dish Network channel 13.[5] Source

Child in West Lafayette abduction case found near Louisville, Kentucky
On Thursday, July 30, the West Lafayette Police Department began investigating a child abduction case that led them to Kentucky. Earlier in the day, the WLPD posted on Facebook asking the public to look out for a person of interest in a child abduction case, and described her as a white female, approximately 23 years old and 5 feet tall, wearing glasses, a gray zip-up sweatshirt and pink and black skull-pattern leggings. They also said she had tattoos, a pierced septum and pink, fluffy hair.
Lafayette Urban Ministry to expand emergency shelter with new grant
Lafayette Urban Ministry will be expanding its emergency shelter capacity by almost double. Thanks to a grant of $756,530.78 awarded through the Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette and funded by Lilly Endowment Inc. through the Community Support Grant component of the ninth phase of the Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow initiative, LUM plans to take the shelter from 48 beds to 80.
Shipshewana woman charged with murder, neglect after death of infant Original
On April 6, Indiana State Police detectives were called to investigate the death of an infant at a residence in Shipshewana. On July 29, in coordination with the LaGrange County Coroner’s Office, the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department, and the Shipshewana Marshal’s Office, the ISP determined there was enough evidence to charge the infant’s mother, 24-year-old Chantel Cunningham of Shipshewana.

For years, seniors have been painting their reserved parking spaces, using artwork to reflect their personalities, future plans and favorite memories. "I really wanted like a Bible verse or something on it, because that's a big part of who I am. I was like, let's make it easy," McCutcheon High School senior Rachel Burgeson said. Produce sellers say business is booming while people hesitate to buy from stores
It's not uncommon in Lafayette to see people selling tomatoes or corn they grew themselves, especially while the weather is so warm. "We get out here at about 8:00. Sometimes on busier days, like Fridays and Saturdays, we see people lined up and they're all sitting out here waiting in their cars,” Logan Phillips, who was selling sweet corn, said. "We always have a line. I know now it might be a little deceiving, but we sell out frequently.

Semi catches fire, prompts lane closure on I-65 in Tippecanoe County
Tuesday evening, I-65 in Tippecanoe County had a lane closure due to an unusual traffic incident. Indiana State Police say a semi hauling grill pellets caught fire, and smoke caused the left lane to close. By around 6 p.m., the fire had been extinguished. No injuries have been reported.
Ankit Toppo exhibit uses art to spark mental health conversations
A new exhibit at the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette is inviting visitors to experience the artwork of Ankit Toppo. While encouraging open conversations about mental health. Toppo was a twenty year old college student in the town of Lafayette, Indiana. The exhibit features artwork Toppo created during his final hospitalization, including pieces inspired by recognizable Lafayette and West Lafayette landmarks that held a special place in his heart.
