New bridge opens
Traffic is now flowing over the new Ferris Road bridge in Melton following the removal of its level crossing, marking another milestone in the ongoing overhaul of the Melton rail corridor. The new bridge opened to motorists on Wednesday 15 July. According to the state government, the project is expected to reduce boom gate down time by up to 28 minutes during the morning peak. The opening comes ahead of the new Melton Station, which is set to welcome passengers from Tuesday 1 September.

Cade Lucas Lawyer, human rights activist and Yarraville resident Jess Marsh will contest the seat of Footscray as an independent at November’s state election after being endorsed by the Voices of the Inner West of Melbourne community group.
