December 3, 2020 American Culture, Health, Law Enforcement on SI and NYC, Politics On Wednesday, Grant City was jumping, with loud music blaring and a large crowd of hundreds milling on Lincoln Avenue. There was food and drink, and everyone was excited. The police had shut down Lincoln Avenue, and from a distance it looked like a crazy December block party. American flags were waving, and some were even dancing to the steady bass beat, but something was decidedly different about this evening.

March 10, 2020 Staten Island News, Staten Island Transportation It’s official. New York City will now impound your motor vehicle if you garner enough speed camera violations within a year. The speed cameras, which automatically take a photo of a car’s license plate if it’s exceeding the speed limit in any of the 750 school speed zones city-wide, are operational from 6 AM to 10 PM, weekdays.

July 31, 2020 Articles, Politics, Staten Island News Scott LoBaido, Staten Island’s Patriot Artist, painted a blue line on the concrete median in front of the 122 Precinct on Hylan Boulevard to show support for the police, in a time when all officers are being demonized for the actions of the very few. The city’s response? Mailing Scott a cease and desist letter from NYC DOT telling him not to paint any more “thin blue blue lines” on city streets, and to get rid of the one he painted. Or else.
