Artificial intelligence has become a defining part of the sports business. Clubs, leagues, and broadcasters now compete for fan attention across every screen and platform, and data sits at the center of that competition. The Stats Perform 2026 Sports Fan Engagement, Monetisation and AI Trends Report shows that 81 percent of sports media organisations increased their use of AI in the past year.

Artificial intelligence (AI) promises to transform virtually every element of professional sport, transforming how its played, organised and consumed, unlocking new possibilities both on and off the field of play. This of course extends to how sport is commercialised.

LONDON – 23 June 2025 – Sports AI and data leader Stats Perform has reinforced its commitment to the future of fan engagement by joining the XR Sports Alliance (XRSA), an innovation-led global alliance dedicated to accelerating immersive sports experiences for fans and professionals. XRSA brings together market leaders from across sports, technology, and extended reality.

Event categorisation includes open play Passes, Goal Kicks, Corners and Free Kicks played as a Pass. Crosses, Keeper Throws, and Throw-ins do not count as a Pass.
