Tropical Development Chances Fade; Gusty Winds, Hazardous Seas Continue Across USVI, Puerto Rico
The tropical Atlantic became quieter Saturday, as hostile conditions diminished the development chances for Invest 92L and Invest 94L. However, moisture associated with the tropical waves could still bring showers to the U.S. Virgin Islands, while gusty winds and hazardous marine conditions continue through the weekend.

Assault Charges Against VIPD Employee on Little St. James Dismissed
Prosecutors have dropped charges against a Virgin Islands Police Department employee who allegedly punched a man duct taped to a pole on Little St. James Island in April. Paul J. Arnold III, an assistant director of information systems management for the police department, was in an “aggressive” state, shouting at officers when they arrived at the island made famous by notorious sex offender Jeffery Epstein, according to court records.
Coral Restoration Organizations Join Forces at Butler Bay Coral Nursery on St. Croix
A coral nursery at Butler Bay is expanding efforts to restore endangered elkhorn coral on St. Croix’s west end through a partnership between the Coral Restoration Foundation and Thriving Islands LLC. Coral restoration work takes shape beneath the waters of Butler Bay, where underwater nursery structures provide a protected environment for elkhorn coral to grow before being returned to the reef.

The Public Works Department is conducting a year-long study of public transit in the Virgin Islands, with assessment teams meeting Vitran bus, ferry and paratransit riders this week to gather feedback through a user satisfaction survey.
