Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is stating that President Trump’s $5,000 dividend for American adults can be done without blowing a hole in the deficit — but only if Republicans keep Congress. The Treasury Department has been working on the mechanics. Bessent is checking what needs a statute and what does not. He wants to sit down with Speaker Johnson after November to discuss the specifics of how this can be done. President Trump calls it the Trump dividend.
