We don't know what films are going to play at the first-ever Jonny Bones' Memorial Movie Night on Thursday at the Rickshaw, but there's a good reason for that. "We are not announcing the movies", says Sam Gajdos, Bones' partner, "because it's not really about the movies." Two films will screen at 7 and 9 p.m., but the whole point is for the friends of Bones (real name Jon Aaronto) come together in his memory. The event's organizers don't want people just to show up for the movies.

Guildford Town Centre is bringing back Secrets of the Haunted Bog this October, transforming a vacant unit into a free walk-through Halloween attraction filled with animatronics, eerie creatures, low lighting, and enough fog to make you question what’s lurking a few feet ahead. Running from October 9 to 31, the roughly two-minute experience takes visitors through a haunted swamp where mysterious characters and other things that go bump in the bog are waiting around the corners.

This October, Dreamqueen Immersive is revisiting the famously stormy gathering that helped give birth to Shelley’s monster with Mary Shelley Meets A Monster, running October 15 to 31 at West Van’s Silk Purse Arts Centre.

The Vancouver Horror Show Film Festival is back this October, bringing five days of cult favourites, new horror films, and plenty of behind-the-scenes talk with the people who make them. The local horror festival returns from October 14 to 18 for its ninth edition, with its first wave of programming bringing creature features, body horror, apocalyptic chaos, and one particularly familiar burlap-masked trick-or-treater to Vancouver.
