Uganda’s Principal Judge, Jane Frances Abodo, has called for urgent and collective action to end Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), warning that rising cases continue to threaten the safety and rights of women and children across the country. Speaking during a community sensitization meeting in Nwoya District, Justice Abodo expressed deep concern over increasing incidents of defilement of young girls, violence against women, and forced child marriages.

In a joint communication issued on April 14, 2026, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) together with the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) confirmed that the country continues to maintain adequate petroleum stocks to meet national demand.
