"Is there music in the numbers?" This was an old friend's question to me as we were trying to make sense of new businesses enabled by digital technology. Circa: 1990s. In New York now and probably for a few more days, the answer is a resounding yes. There was and is music in the numbers. New York Knicks: 94; San Antonio Spurs: 90. And look once more at the picture. Little guy outmaneuvering big guy. It's an oft-told story going back to the Bible's David. Mythology is filled with it.

Cleanse is the word that comes to mind. As in, get rid of. Get rid of those who dare to cross me. Cleanse the Party. I have over the years, but just barely, had a few minutes ofgood conversation with friends, who are Republicans, about President Donald J Trump. Names I won’t share because I don’t want to breach our friendship.

For almost a decade, Bob DeGour, a member of the U.S. Naval Academy Class of 1973, has dedicated himself to helping Talbot County high school students compete successfully for the highly coveted congressional appointments to his alma mater. His results speak for themselves. What makes DeGour’s work especially distinctive is that he does far more than guide students through the demanding application process to the academy.

Winston Churchill once said in times of great uncertainty, look for great opportunities. Immensely rich and hyper-competitive men jockey for position. A sort of elite “man-o-sphere.
