Instarc raises €1.25M to scale its cloud-native compliance platform
Tallinn-based regtech company Instarc has secured a €1.25 million strategic investment to support the commercial rollout of its cloud-native compliance platform in South Africa. The investment was led by HFO Investments, with Athena Capital and Option 3 Capital advising on the transaction. Instarc develops compliance infrastructure for regulated financial institutions and other accountable institutions.
INLEAP Photonics raises €20M to expand laser counter-drone systems
German deeptech company INLEAP Photonics has raised approximately €20 million in seed funding to scale its laser-based counter-drone technology for defence and critical infrastructure applications. The round was led by UVC Partners, with participation from HTGF in Germany, Poland's Balnord, Estonia's Sentris and Denmark's Scale Capital. INLEAP Photonics develops high-precision, ultra-fast laser beam steering systems for neutralising unmanned aerial vehicles.
Cambridge University spinout launches AI model "competitive" with OpenAI and Anthropic
A Cambridge University spinout has today launched a “frontier-class” generalist AI model which it says is competitive with OpenAI and Anthropic's leading models and can be deployed locally. Flower Labs is a London and Hamburg-based startup which lets companies train AI models using data that stays where it is, rather than being transferred to one central database. For example, a hospital could maintain patient data within its systems.
ID Finance secures €21M from nordIX to grow its Spanish lending business
Fintech company ID Finance has secured a €21 million debt facility from German asset manager nordIX to support the continued growth of its consumer lending business in Spain. Founded in Barcelona in 2015, ID Finance operates in Spain and Mexico, providing digital financial services focused on consumer lending. The company has more than 3.7 million registered users in Spain, where it offers small, short-term consumer loans through a digital platform.
AIRMO takes aim at methane leaks from space
The International Energy Agency (IEA) estimates that about 200 billion cubic metres (bcm) of natural gas is lost annually through leaks, venting and flaring — enough to cover roughly two‑thirds of the EU’s annual gas consumption. Founded in 2022, AIRMO is a space-tech company building a methane-emissions monitoring platform for the energy industry.
Photoroom co-founder quits executive role
One of the co-founders of French AI photo editing app Photoroom is standing down from his executive role at the Y Combinator alumni startup. Eliot Andres founded Paris-based Photoroom with CEO Matthieu Rouif in 2019, with the aim of democratising photo editing with an easy-to-use photo editing app. Photoroom leverages AI to help brands and individual sellers edit shots into professional-looking visuals in seconds.
Space Cargo Unlimited invests in CNES subsidiary Novespace to expand microgravity offering
Space Cargo Unlimited (Space Cargo), which develops autonomous space manufacturing platforms and mission services for commercial microgravity research and manufacturing, has announced a strategic investment in Novespace, Europe's leading provider of parabolic flight services and a subsidiary of CNES (France’s national space agency ). Parabolic flight services are flights in specially modified aircraft that repeatedly climb and dive along a parabolic trajectory.
Cloover turns profitable at $350M revenue run rate and secures $100M financing facility
Energy platform for residential solar, heat pumps, and home electrification, Cloover, has turned profitable three years after launch, at a revenue run rate of more than $350 million. The company has also secured a new $100 million facility, taking its total financing capacity to more than $1.3 billion.
