Huawei recently unveiled 5 phones as part of the Mate 90 Series. The Mate 90 Pro Max and the Mate 90 RS Ultimate Design are the top devices in the series. We’ve explained the differences already. Alongside the 5 new phones, Huawei and partners also launched a set of accessories including: a case you assemble from swappable parts, a camera that locks onto the back of the phone, and a zoom lens. Not every accessory works with every phone however.
Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max cameras explained, what the Z10 add-on camera changes
Huawei has made a camera that locks onto the back of a phone. It’s called the XMAGE Z10, and it costs CNY 5,999, or about KES 116,000. It isn’t one of those clip-on lenses sold for phones. It’s a whole camera, with its own sensor and zoom lens. It has no screen, so the phone shows you the picture, processes it and saves it.
Why you may now get two M-PESA SMS after paying at a Till
When you pay at a Till you usually get an SMS from M-PESA confirming it. That SMS also shows your M-PESA balance. So if a cashier asks for proof that you paid, showing them that SMS means showing them your balance. Safaricom has now added a second SMS for this. It comes from a sender called Jumbe, and it is a receipt with no balance on it. You can show the cashier this one instead. Safaricom calls the feature Split Notifications. You don’t sign up for anything.

MagicOS 11 is Honor’s version of Android 17, and it launched in Shenzhen on 15th September with a three-batch plan covering 51 phones. Honor’s product maintenance account on Weibo, 荣耀小芳哥, set out the October dates in a post on 30th September.
Saving for December from September: what KES 5,000, then 7,500, then 10,000 in a money market fund looks like by January
When you put KES 5,000 into a money market fund this month, KES 7,500 in October and KES 10,000 in November, and at 10% a year you walk into December with KES 22,835. Over three months the saving does the work and the interest is a rounding error. We used 10% because it keeps the arithmetic round. The Jubilee Money Market Fund (KES) quoted 10.61% as at 1 September 2026, and money market yields move with the Central Bank rate, so treat every figure here as an illustration.

Starlink is looking for hosts to sell hourly and weekly internet passes
Starlink wants people to order a Starlink Kit, the dish and Wi-Fi router, and sell internet access to the people around them by the hour, day, week or month. A Starlink for communities page that surfaced this week invites property owners, business owners and local entrepreneurs to apply as hosts, and the application form lists Kenya among its 158 countries and territories. Before anyone in Kenya earns anything, though, Starlink’s Kenyan terms bar reselling without its approval.
Telcos must send government emergency texts to all phone users, even those who opted out
Government emergency texts will now reach you even if you blocked promotional messages. The Communications Authority (CA), Kenya’s telecoms regulator, has ordered Safaricom, Airtel Kenya, Telkom Kenya and Jamii Telecommunications to deliver them to every active subscriber. The order is dated 1st October 2026, and the first test runs were set for 2nd October. You can’t switch these texts off through your operator.
Apple is changing Full Disk Access on Mac: safer from AI agents, but backup apps may feel it
Apple has said it will add new controls to Full Disk Access on the Mac, so that people can grant it only with “very explicit user action”. Nothing changes on your Mac today. Apple gave no date and no design, and named no app. It says AI agents, apps that carry out tasks for you on their own, are the reason: the risks of this access will grow substantially as agents become more capable and autonomous.
CBK raises licensed lenders’ annual fee to KES 500,000 from KES 20,000
Image Source: People Daily The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has replaced its rules for loan apps. The new rules are Legal Notice 191, published in the Kenya Gazette on 29th September 2026.
