Chinese internet firms sign AI agent data protection pact
The China Internet Association released a self-regulatory pact on personal information protection for AI agents at a forum in Beijing, with Baidu, Tencent, Alibaba, Volcengine, and 27 other internet companies among the first signatories. The pact is aimed at standardizing how AI agents collect, process, and use personal data as agent-based services spread across internet platforms.
China sets 2030 target for next-generation internet infrastructure
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and three other agencies issued guidelines on July 13 to upgrade the country’s internet basic resources, targeting “systematic breakthroughs” by 2030 and a more advanced national internet infrastructure by 2035. The document calls for research into agent-to-agent networks, satellite internet, digital identity infrastructure, IPv6 upgrades, and the integration of AI, blockchain, and distributed identifiers with internet resource systems.
Ant Group unveils AI safety models for agents and multimodal systems
Ant Group’s AI Safety Lab has open-sourced SingGuard-NSFA, a safety guardrail model for autonomous agents, and disclosed details of SingGuard, a multimodal safety model. SingGuard-NSFA is designed to detect risks such as prompt injection, sensitive data theft, malicious code execution, resource abuse, and permission misuse before agents take action.
Zhipu AI founder outlines Touch High plan for AGI research
Zhipu AI founder Tang Jie told employees in an internal letter that the Chinese foundation model developer will launch a “Touch High” plan, focusing on AGI research rather than short-term commercialization, according to LatePost. Zhipu AI is the company behind the GLM series of large language models. Tang listed four technical priorities for the plan: long-horizon tasks, autonomous agent systems, fully self-training, and extreme safety governance.
ByteDance explores autonomous driving for unmanned logistics
ByteDance is exploring autonomous driving technology for unmanned logistics through the world model team under Seed, its AI research unit, according to Chinese media reports. The early-stage project is reportedly tied to Volcengine’s automotive industry line. Google reportedly beats Apple to TSMC’s 2nm chip debut with Tensor G6
According to the latest industry leaks, Google’s next-generation in-house flagship chip, the Tensor G6, will be the first to adopt TSMC’s 2nm process, making it the world’s first mass-produced 2nm smartphone chip. The chip will power the Pixel 11 series, scheduled for launch in August 2026, about a month ahead of Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro lineup, which is also expected to use TSMC’s 2nm technology.
Seres Group expects H1 2026 net loss of $220 million–$270 million
Seres Group on Sunday issued a profit warning for the first half of 2026, forecasting a net loss attributable to shareholders of between RMB 1.5 billion ($220 million) and RMB 1.8 billion ($270 million) for the period from January 1 to June 30. The company compares with a net profit of RMB 2.941 billion ($430 million) in the same period last year, which would represent a reversal from profit to loss.
CXMT sets July 16 subscription date for STAR Market IPO
ChangXin Memory Technologies, or CXMT, has started the issuance process for its STAR Market IPO, with subscriptions scheduled for July 16. The Chinese DRAM maker plans to raise RMB29.5 billion. CXMT is China’s largest DRAM producer and one of the country’s most important memory chip companies, in a market still dominated globally by Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron. The company will issue 6.69 billion shares before any over-allotment option, equal to about 10% of its post-issuance share capital.
Xiaomi opens reservations for SkyNomad SUV series
Xiaomi EV has opened reservation consultations for SkyNomad, known in Chinese as Xiaomi Pengcheng, its new smart SUV series focused on flexible in-car space. The product line is positioned separately from Xiaomi’s SU7 and YU7 series. The first SkyNomad model is expected to use a flat floor and long-rail seat layout, allowing the cabin to switch between multiple seating and storage configurations.
