I Think We're Alone Now

In 2004, around the time that So Jealous started to do well and make an impact in the music industry, I started making friends with musicians, many of whom were my age. One such friend was Chad Gilbert from New Found Glory. Well, really he made friends with me. He reached out through our management email, and they forwarded his message on to me. He and I started pen-palling back and forth over email, and one day he just randomly called me. It was exciting.

Music Digging into the lyrics of “Our Year,” then and now. Happy Saturday, everybody. I hope you had a good week. This weekend I thought I’d dig into the lyrics of our new song, “Our Year” and tell you a little more about what inspired it. “Our Year” is a unique song for us because we actually wrote it a couple years ago with our friends John Congleton and Luke Reynolds.

A lot of people have been asking how we got hooked up with Lights and Felix Cartal to work on “Our Year,” our latest song, which is now streaming on YouTube, Spotify, and all the other places people listen to music these days. Our song, “Our Year,” featuring Lights and Felix Cartal, came out yesterday, and today we’re just basking in the glow of all the lovely messages we’ve gotten. It’s been really fun seeing people connect with the song and hearing that it’s making some of you feel hopeful and happy. Yesterday was so great. Our group chat with Lights and Felix was going off! Thanks from all of us for the early support of the song! I had to laugh when the news about new Taylor Swift dropped.

There are the obvious songs, the ones you love too, maybe a lyric that you tattooed on your arm, quoted in a handwritten letter, or sung till you were hoarse, or redeemed, made whole again by pretending to be the opposite.
