The combination was previously announced in June of this year. Rightfiber unites two highly respected telecommunications providers, each with more than 100 years of successful history.

CARTERET BOROUGH, N.J. (September 2, 2026) — The Northeast’s largest independent fiber internet provider is expanding its New Jersey footprint once again, with the Borough of Carteret next in line for its 100% fiber-optic network. Backed by a fully funded $8 million investment, GoNetspeed’s expansion will bring symmetrical internet speeds of up to 6 Gbps to more than 6,300 homes and businesses, expanding access to faster, more reliable connectivity across the Garden State.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) today released a public notice seeking comment on the Robocall Scorecard, an initiative aimed at helping consumers choose their voice service provider. The FCC notice seeks comments on how to make the Robocall Scorecard easy to understand and accessible, establish rating criteria that are relevant and accurate and create an iterative process to improve the tool. The notice distinguishes between conduct-based and outcome-based metrics.

The Golden State Connect Authority (GSCA) has signed a design and construction agreement with FiberTel to move forward on the Golden State Fiber network, a last-mile public-private partnership intended to expand broadband connectivity across rural California. Under the agreement, FiberTel will design and build fiber deployments in Alpine, Amador, Imperial, Mono, and Tehama counties, as well as the Town of Mammoth Lakes.

A narrow majority of U.S. internet households would prefer a video subscription that pairs live television with their favorite streaming services, according to a new report from Parks Associates. The Plano, Texas, research firm said in an announcement that 51% of internet households favored a combined package. That total splits into two camps: 27% wanted a live-TV bundle paired with on-demand streaming, while 24% preferred a skinny bundle combined with streaming services.

The Ohio Telecom Association has changed its name to the Ohio Broadband & Technology Association (OBTA), a rebrand the statewide trade group said reflects its expanding membership and an updated mission. The organization said it replaced “Telecom” with “Broadband & Technology” to capture a broader scope of work, including building broadband infrastructure and supporting the technology that runs on it.

Today, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced a new round of Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program funding that will let states and territories direct a portion of their program savings toward unserved locations that surfaced after their final deployment plans were submitted.

Roseburg, Ore. — September 2026 — Douglas Fast Net (DFN)has been awarded a $31.576 million contract through Oregon’s Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program to expand high-speed fiber internet access to 4,490 additional homes across rural communities in Douglas, Coos and Lane counties. Combined with $10.418 million in matching funds contributed by DFN, the project represents a total investment of more than $41.99 million in fiber infrastructure across the region.
