At this point in the season, the Maryland field hockey team has defeated four ranked opponents: No. 18 Michigan, No. 9 Princeton, No. 8 Duke and No. 6 Wake Forest.

Fast and fit. Those two words are the perfect way to describe No. 1 Maryland field hockey in 2026. The Terps are playing at a never-before-seen pace with a dynamic attack that seeks to use the whole field and the entire bench. Behind this offense, the Terps have reestablished themselves as national title contenders as the autumn rolls on. While most of the offensive production comes from midfielders and forwards, it’s the defenders that originate everything.

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Tai Felton received the largest opportunity of his young career against the New Orleans Saints. Felton was named the wide receiver two on Sunday in Minnesota’s 23-13 win — He caught two passes on three targets for 27 yards from quarterback Kyler Murray.

Maryland men’s lacrosse will be well-represented heading into the 2027 World Lacrosse men’s championship; seven Terps appear on the initial 45-man roster heading into training camp. Defenseman AJ Larkin, the youngest Maryland alum, made the initial cutdown despite being the only player featured with no professional team. Larkin was part of a 2026 squad that marked the first time the Terps have missed the NCAA tournament since 2003.

Maryland men’s basketball took the floor for the first time in exactly seven months, opening its 2026-27 season with an exhibition game against Georgia Tech. Despite 10 players making their unofficial debut, the Terps came out hot. Maryland started on an 8-0 run and led by as many as 27 points in the second half before the Terps took their foot off the gas. Pharrel Payne poured in a game-high 16 points to help fuel Maryland to an 85-70 rout of Georgia Tech. Here are three takeaways from the game.

While fall sports are well underway and winter sports are about to begin their seasons, Maryland’s spring sports have been putting in the work early in October. The Dirty Terps are one of the teams to have impressed, having won two games against Towson on Saturday. The first game was a closely fought affair in which the Terps prevailed, 5-4. Towson took a two-run lead in the third inning, but the Terps leveled the score soon after.

Preseason expectations for Maryland men’s basketball have varied significantly in the weeks leading up to head coach Buzz Williams’ second season at the helm. But in Sunday’s neutral-site exhibition game against Georgia Tech, the Terps positively answered many lingering questions. Maryland swarmed the Yellow Jackets from tipoff to the buzzer, displaying upgraded play in key areas in an 85-70 victory.

The offense arrived. After seven games without a goal in Big Ten play, Maryland’s attack broke through in a big way, scoring twice to propel the Terps. The goals were not the only stat that showed vast improvement. Maryland had 12 shots and six shots on goal, with the latter number being the Terps’ highest in Big Ten play. Lilly Bane, what a game.

After a go-ahead kill by Sydney Bryant put the contest at an 18-17 match point, Maryland volleyball looked to finish the job as Addie Canady took the service line. Sara Toth set a pass to the right for freshman Ava Brown, who leapt up, looking to send Maryland fans home happy. Brown spiked the ball across the court where no Wildcat could respond, and the team stormed the court to celebrate once the ball hit the floor.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Maryland football ran into Ohio Stadium Saturday carrying the burden of an 0-39 record against Big Ten opponents. Its loss proved why that streak is yet to be snapped. The Terps dropped their fourth straight loss in a disappointing showing against the Buckeyes, 45-16. Maryland’s offense failed to keep it close for long and inconsistencies on defense allowed Ohio State to jump out to a devastating lead early on in the contest.
