Many pioneering scientists have been overlooked, despite being contributors to major discoveries that have shaped our world today. Barry University is shining a spotlight on these individuals, starting with Charles Henry Turner. In 1907, he earned his Ph.D. in zoology from the University of Chicago, becoming the first African American to do so in that field. Turner was qualified to teach in universities, but he faced criticism and discrimination, forcing him to teach at a high school level.
Work to Learn, To Learn to Work II
Most sophomores on campus are still figuring out who they want to become. Davon Howard had already lived a whole life before arriving at Barry University. After more than a decade in the military, he retired with benefits that made higher education financially possible. Now, as a theology major, he is building another career. “It’s challenging,” he said. “You have to adapt to a new culture and a generation who are 20 years younger than you.
From Amateurism to Enterprise: How NIL Is Reshaping College Athletics
A recent lawsuit involving Duke University quarterback Darian Mensah underscores just how rapidly NIL has transformed college athletics. The case, centered on contractual disagreements and compensation expectations, highlights a new era where athletes are not just students, but business entities navigating legal and financial challenges. Whatchu Cooking, Twin?
But behind the pleasant aromas, there is a recipe for frustration. The Buccaneer took a look at the residents who use it, the students who avoid it, and the housing department to see if this facility is a hidden gem or a half-baked effort. "I really appreciate that there’s a kitchen students can use," he said, noting that he used it extensively over the summer and Christmas breaks.

The United States’ most recent actions across the Middle East have sparked debate across social media, prompting many in Gen Z to wonder how these events might affect them. For a lot of Barry students, members of this generation, the idea of living through wartime is extremely unfamiliar.
