Michael Dell has overtaken Jeff Bezos in Forbes’ billionaire rankings, becoming the world’s third-wealthiest person for the first time after shares of Dell Technologies hit an all-time high, extending a six-month rally. Dell’s estimated net worth rose by $4.6 billion to $267.7 billion at Tuesday’s market close, putting him ahead of Amazon co-founder Bezos, whose fortune fell by $1.4 billion to $265.2 billion after Amazon shares declined 0.6 percent.

Dar es Salaam. Girls have called on the government and development partners to ensure equal access to digital devices, the internet and digital skills, warning that they risk being left behind as Tanzania moves towards a technology-driven economy by 2050. They said early investment in girls’ digital education and skills was essential to prevent technological advancement from widening the gender gap and limiting their access to future jobs, businesses, and other economic opportunities.

Dar es Salaam. The Medical Association of Tanzania (MAT) has launched a structured intervention to protect the health and legal rights of Dr Conrad Agonza Kahyoza, a Muhimbili National Hospital-Mloganzila specialist who was injured during an incident involving a traffic police officer in the city.

Washington. The United States banned a broad swath of Canadian alcoholic beverages, motorcycles and dairy products from import on Tuesday, sharply escalating an already acrimonious trade spat. The import bans, which go into effect on September 29 and were ​published on the White House's website, came after Canada's own retaliatory tariffs on US goods took effect after midnight on Tuesday.

The Medical Association of Tanzania (MAT) has called for legal and medical support for a Muhimbili National Hospital-Mloganzila specialist who was injured during an incident involving a traffic police officer in Dar es Salaam. In a statement issued on September 8, 2026, MAT president Dr Alex Elifuraha Msoka identified the doctor as Dr Conrad Agonza Kahyoza, a specialist in internal medicine at Muhimbili National Hospital-Mloganzila.

New Delhi. Brent crude prices were trading close to $100 a barrel on Wednesday for the first ​time since July, as escalating attacks across the Middle East fuelled ‌concerns over disruptions to oil supplies from the region. Brent crude futures rose 1.3% to $99.22 a barrel by 0614 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude was up 1.2% ​at $94.13 a barrel.

Washington. Iran's Revolutionary Guards said on Tuesday it had captured a US uncrewed submarine at the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, offering a rare glimpse into how underwater drones are being ​used in military operations. Iranian state media said the vessel was a Dive-LD, a ​large autonomous underwater vehicle built by California defense firm Anduril.

Cairo/Washington. Iran's Revolutionary Guard said it ​fired ballistic missiles at a base in Jordan used by the US military and attacked 10 ships on Wednesday, after the U.S. said it had destroyed ‌five Iranian oil tankers, in a sharp escalation of the six-month-old war. Increased attacks by both the US and Iran have shattered a month of relative calm, hitting military, shipping and energy assets, sending oil prices surging and drawing in regional allies in recent days.

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania has invited Japanese investors to participate in major infrastructure projects, including the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), ports, airports and urban transport, as it seeks to shift economic ties with Japan from development assistance to investment and industrialisation.
