Dar es Salaam. As stakeholders are fighting for a new Constitution to address complained-about challenges, the Alliance for Democratic Change (ADC) party chairman, Mr Shaban Itutu, has raised a new point regarding the need to campaign for the establishment of a Constitutional Court.

Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania Human Rights Defenders Coalition (THRDC) has called on the police to provide timely information on the whereabouts and condition of Dr Conrad Agonza, a doctor at Mloganzila Hospital, following an incident involving him and a traffic police officer. The incident occurred on September 8, 2026, along Bagamoyo Road in Dar es Salaam, according to a statement issued by THRDC.

Dodoma. The Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (Ruwasa) is seeking alternative financing to extend water services to 1,575 villages that remain without access to clean and safe water. The move comes as the government estimates that about Sh5 trillion is required to meet the country’s remaining water infrastructure needs, leaving a financing gap of approximately Sh3 trillion.

Dar es Salaam. Young Africans (Yanga) have signed a Sh5.5 billion contract with Chinese construction company Group Six for the development of a 12-storey commercial building at the junction of Mafia and Nyamwezi streets in Kariakoo. Yanga president Hersi Said said the project is expected to be completed within 12 months, with the club seeking to turn the long-standing property into a major source of commercial revenue.

Unguja. Zanzibar’s Ministry of Health has unveiled plans to construct a local medical drip manufacturing plant to curb the high cost of delivering intravenous treatment to patients. The project aims to replicate the efficiency gained following the government’s construction of a medical oxygen manufacturing facility.

Dar es Salaam. The government has started reviewing public institutions that meet the requirements for listing on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE), with Tanzania Commercial Bank (TCB) nearing the end of preparations for the move. The initiative is aimed at attracting more investment, increasing transparency and accountability, and giving Tanzanians and other investors an opportunity to participate in the ownership of state-owned institutions.

Michael Dell has overtaken Jeff Bezos in Forbes’ billionaire rankings, becoming the world’s third-wealthiest person for the first time after shares of Dell Technologies hit an all-time high, extending a six-month rally. Dell’s estimated net worth rose by $4.6 billion to $267.7 billion at Tuesday’s market close, putting him ahead of Amazon co-founder Bezos, whose fortune fell by $1.4 billion to $265.2 billion after Amazon shares declined 0.6 percent.

Girls have called on the government and development partners to ensure equal access to digital devices, the internet and digital skills, warning that they risk being left behind as Tanzania moves towards a technology-driven economy by 2050. They said early investment in girls’ digital education and skills was essential to prevent technological advancement from widening the gender gap and limiting their access to future jobs, businesses, and other economic opportunities.
