Happy Tuesday, hockey fans. It’s September 1, and I can already hear the summer gluttons in my ear telling me to shut up and put the pumpkin spice down. No can do. I’m done being sweaty. I’m done getting sunblock in my eyes. Most of all, I’m ready to watch some dang hockey. Well, I’m eager-as-can-be, but I’m not exactly ready to be tossed into the upcoming season quite yet.

A TikTok post I saw a few weeks ago has stuck with me for at least these few weeks, which is more like a few generations in the modern attention economy. Once I bookmarked the post as if I was ever going to revisit it again, I’d realized that I saw the same exact words lay over a generic background from three different users in a singular scrolling session, which meant a few things. Most pressing? It was time to stop scrolling.
