Caitlin Clark is the biggest name in college basketball, but perhaps the most high-profile coach in women’s basketball history had some harsh words about her fans and her impact on the game this week. During a recent podcast appearance, legendary UConn Huskies head coach Geno Auriemma spoke on Clark’s jump to the WNBA from the college level and the discourse that has followed her on her rise to superstardom.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will have a new head coach on the sideline next season in Mike McCarthy, after 19 seasons with Mike Tomlin leading the franchise. Veteran quarterback and four-time league MVP Aaron Rodgers will serve as a bridge between the eras, as he was Tomlin’s last starting quarterback in the Steel City and will be McCarthy’s first.

Last month, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy created some waves when he indicated that he was considering running for public office and perhaps even challenging New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani in an election. Now, instead of backing down from that claim, he’s doubling down. During a recent interview, Portnoy once again indicated that he could run for office in New York City. And this time, he specifically indicated that he would want to challenge Mamdani directly.

The Atlanta Dream snapped its five-game losing streak on Thursday night with an 89-78 win over the Seattle Storm. A big reason for the return to form for the Dream, which looked like one of the premier teams in the WNBA before the losing streak, was the dominance of forward Angel Reese. Reese, who is always a force on the glass, finished the game with 11 boards. However, what was most impressive was her scoring efficiency, which has been a hole in her game since she was drafted in 2024.

For the second year in a row, the Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series in 2025. Now, for the second year in a row, the team will be visiting United States President Donald Trump at the White House to celebrate, and one former ESPN star is not happy about it. In a column this week, longtime Los Angeles Times columnist Bill Plaschke unloaded on the Dodgers for accepting an invitation to visit the White House for a second consecutive year.

LeBron James still hasn’t announced where he will play next season after eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. Since announcing that he would be hitting the free agency market for the fourth time in his career, three franchises have emerged as the frontrunners to sign the NBA’s all-time leading scorer: the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Golden State Warriors, and the Philadelphia 76ers.

Much has been made about Indiana Fever point guard Caitlin Clark finishing 11th in All-Star voting amongst guards in voting from players around the league. WNBA legend Candace Parker took exception with Clark finishing outside of the top ten, especially considering she’s in the top five in the league in both points per game and assists per game. “It’s also kind of crazy. Like, I wholeheartedly believe that there needs to be some rules with the WNBA players because this is getting out of hand.

NBA free agency is underway, and the biggest name on the market, former Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, has yet to decide where he will sign and, in all likelihood, finish his legendary career. Interestingly, the news broke that James would not be returning to the Lakers a day after his son, Bronny James, who also plays for the Lakers, had his full $2.3 million contract guaranteed.

Indiana Fever point guard was named to the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game, her third ASG selection in as many seasons, as a starter. When Clark has been healthy, she’s been one of the most impressive players in the game, and this season she is showing why she was the number one overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft. On the season, Clark is averaging 20.5 ppg and 7.9 assists a night, putting her in the top five of both categories.

As of late, the WNBA discourse has largely centered around Indiana Fever point guard Caitlin Clark and the way that she is refereed and the physical way that her opponents play her. The conversation reached new heights after Phoenix Mercury star Alyssa Thomas struck her in the throat area.
