Campus Ministry's Open A is a good example of free and charitable giving to those in need (hungry college students) When Thomas Jefferson wrote the declaration that set America’s star into the constellation of nations, he founded America on the principle of certain inalienable rights, namely life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. However, many now seem to be confused about what having rights implies.
Emerald Green’s deadly past
WARNING: Watch out for arsenic and old lace, or it might just getcha! Saint Patrick’s Day is coming up soon, meaning people’s minds are beginning to turn to all things green. However, unlike broccoli and good St. Patrick, not all green things are good for you. In the Victorian era, as in March, bright green was a popular color, particularly for wallpaper and dresses. However, this shade, known as Scheele’s green, got its bright yellow-green color from copper arsenite which contains arsenic.
What does our faith say about modern culture?
Several women have contributed significant works to the Christian intellectual tradition and are part of UD's core curriculum. According to last week’s article featuring women and female representation at UD, the culture of our campus does not correspond with what the university wishes to support. However, if I have understood correctly, it seems that what the article claims to be “the mission at UD” differs from the actual university’s vision and mission statement.
Dr. Roper Addresses Washing Machine Issues
The door of this dryer in Catherine Hall fell completly off! A college student may face a variety of struggles, but worrying about a lack of something clean to wear should not be among them. However, recently, UD students have encountered serious issues with their appliances. Residents of Gregory Hall had no working washing machines for an entire week. Residents of Theresa Hall have been forced to seek laundering outside their dorms because their dryers were smoking.
Does UD Just Hate Change?
The new Verkada locks launched unexpectedly over break and I found out through a group chat I was in. My first reaction was excitement—it was always annoying to fumble for your wallet and ID when your hands were full and half the time my ID needed multiple tries to work. However, as those around me expressed immediate disappointment in the change, for reasons such as safety, security, phone drainage and inconvenience, my opinion began to sway.
Superstar Professor Panel to Celebrate America’s 250th
On Wednesday, March 4, 183 UD students and visitors eagerly listened to Trent Horn, Dr. Burt Folsom, President Jonathan Sanford and Dr. Susan Hanssen speak about American exceptionalism in SB Hall. The evening was moderated by junior politics major Liam Ritter. The questions posed by Mr. Ritter sparked intriguing conversations. The first question was directed towards Dr. Folsom and asked what economic developments and inventions America can claim as its own.
My Experience at the NFL Combine
The NFL Combine in Indianapolis This past week, I had the honor of attending a conference hosted by the Sports Management World Wide Company at the NFL Combine! The NFL Combine is where the elite college talent showcases their skills before the NFL draft. During this time, athletes compete in various competitions, as well as interview with coaches and managers.
