The Fulton Police Department is asking residents to remain vigilant following a recent increase in thefts reported in the area. Police are encouraging residents to take several simple precautions to help protect their homes, vehicles and property. Residents are reminded to lock their doors, including vehicle doors, and to avoid leaving valuables in plain sight. Police also encourage community members to remain alert for unusual or suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.

South Fulton turned a close game at halftime into a convincing victory Fri., Aug. 28, pulling away in the second half to defeat Fulton County 36-8. The Red Devils took control early and never trailed, but Fulton County stayed within striking distance until South Fulton erupted after halftime. Quarterback Grant Joyner put South Fulton on the scoreboard with a touchdown run with 2:30 remaining in the first quarter. Gage Hancock added the extra point to give the Red Devils a 7-0 lead.

(Editor's Note: The following is from the City of Hickman's Facebook page.) Gas service is being restored in Hickman following damage to a marked gas line by a state contractor. The restoration process will be completed in accordance with Kentucky Public Service Commission guidelines and required safety procedures to help prevent further issues or delays in returning service. A responsible person MUST be present at each address when gas service is turned back on.

The Fulton County Fiscal Court will hold a special-called meeting Tues., Sept. 1, at 9 a.m. at the Mills Point location, in Hickman, Ky. Fulton County Judge-Executive Jim Martin will call the meeting to order, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and invocation. The Fiscal Court is scheduled to address several items of business during the meeting, including establishing the county’s tax rate for the upcoming year.

The City of Hickman is notifying residents that all gas meters throughout the town will be temporarily shut off as crews work to address an ongoing issue with the city’s gas system. According to the city, crews will cut off gas service at meters while the issue is being resolved. Once the problem has been addressed, city personnel will return to the meters and turn gas service back on. Residents are being advised that someone must be home when crews arrive to restore service.

Natural gas service has been temporarily interrupted throughout the town of Hickman, Ky. as construction continues at the city’s four-way intersection. According to a notice from the City of Hickman, the ongoing construction has left the entire town without natural gas service. City officials said service will be restored once the construction work is completed and it is safe to do so. Residents are being urged not to attempt to relight natural gas appliances while service is interrupted.

The Fulton County Board of Education will hold a Monthly Board Meeting Thurs., Aug. 27, 2026 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held via video teleconference.

South Fulton Middle School’s bats came alive Tues., Aug. 25 as the Lady Red Devils cruised to a 14-3 victory over the Gleason Junior High Lady Dawgs. South Fulton wasted little time taking control, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. After the Lady Dawgs induced Paisley Allen to hit into a fielder’s choice, a run scored. Aniston Allen followed with a two-run single, while Kenedy Allen added an RBI single.

The Fulton Commission will meet in a special-called session at 8 a.m. Thurs., Aug. 27. Only items listed on the agenda may be addressed during the meeting. No other matters may be considered. The agenda includes the invocation, Pledge of Allegiance, roll call, and the second reading of Ordinance 2027-20, an ordinance establishing property tax rates and the due date for the 2026 tax year.
