One way to investigate the state of a society is by turning on the radio, or, more applicable to 2022, one’s preferred streaming service. As current culture heads toward unrest and tension, music follows. Times of crisis have consistently produced faster (and, incidentally, more danceable) music as people escape from their lives into the fantasy of pop culture.

There are records of dating profiles in magazines and newspapers as recently as the 1990s, when dating sites had already started gaining traction. People have always been seeking to make connections with those they’ve yet to meet.
