South Western Districts Cricket mourns the passing of a former administrator who served the company, Gerry Gertse. The 62-year-old Gertse passed away on June, 25th. Gertse, a former educator served as headmaster at Bontebok Primary School in Swellendam and later in his career as the headmaster of Garden Route Primary School in Mossel Bay.

The annual funding award ceremony of the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport was held at the Maritime Museum in Mossel Bay on Friday, 25th of June 2026. Annual funding grants and funding for major events programs were done.

Six stalwarts of the mini cricket program in the South Western Districts were honoured with special merit awards at the recent SWD Cricket Annual Awards function that was held at the Anew Wilderness Hotel in George. All these coaches have more than twenty years of service to the mini cricket program.
