September 9, 2026 Sam Pratt is the new head coach of the Ithaca College men’s rowing team. Pratt comes from Division I Cornell University, where he was the assistant coach for three years. The previous head coach, Justin Stangel, resigned July 24 after previously holding the position for four seasons. In a statement via email, Pratt said he feels a real connection to the group already having lived in Ithaca for three years.

The social impact communications minor is now open for enrollment. The minor builds on existing strategic communications courses, combining them with lessons on social responsibility, public relations, campaign-building and interdisciplinary study. The minor has been in development for over two years within the Roy H. Park School of Communications.

September 9, 2026 Jen Huemmer, an associate professor in the department of strategic communication at Ithaca College, created an app for college students called Taskel: Your College Mentor. The app is designed to help guide college students with their academic workload by assisting with communication with professors, understanding syllabi, navigating which clubs to join and helping find internships.

As someone who has worked at Ithaca College for many years, I have had the privilege of serving under four presidents and 11 provosts. During that time, I have witnessed many different leadership styles, institutional challenges and periods of transition. I had planned to retire, but when La Jerne Cornish became provost, I made the decision to stay.

The Ithaca Commons is a beloved cultural center for many students, tourists and locals. When someone comes to enjoy their day in Ithaca, they expect a vibrant, bustling environment with numerous shops. However, Ithaca has been facing issues with increasingly unaffordable housing and development. Local businesses have been struggling to stay open amid rising costs.

The perfect amount of structural integrity — not too floppy, but not so rigid that it cannot be folded into a triangle? Whatever the magical combination of characteristics that make NYC’s pizza unique, many credit the original NYC slice to Patsy’s Pizzeria, an East Harlem restaurant that first opened in 1933.

A late curler from the edge of the box in the 90th minute from first-year forward Anthony Cocca saw the Bombers stay undefeated in nonconference matches under second-year head coach Gabe Kuhn.
