Changes will allow local alcohol producers to sell each other’s products, open more stores
GASPEREAU, KINGS COUNTY: Nova Scotia is making two changes that will support local wineries, cideries, breweries and distilleries and offer consumers more choice. Nova Scotian alcohol producers will soon be able to cross-sell other local alcohol products at their locations. For example, a vineyard in the Annapolis Valley could partner with a Cape Breton distillery to sell each other’s products.
Ryan Cole, wanted on province-wide arrest warrant, has been arrested
NEW ALBANY: Ryan Cole, the 36-year-old man of East Hants wanted on a province-wide warrant, has been arrested. Mooseland Road wildfire update on July 17
MOOSELAND: The Province of Nova Scotia’s Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency (HRFE) are continuing to respond to an active wildfire on Mooseland Road and surrounding area. NSDNR personnel and most of the Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency (HRFE) will depart the scene for the night at dusk and resume firefighting efforts in the morning. HRFE personnel will remain at the site to monitor overnight conditions.
Traffic disruptions expected during repaving, maintenance work on Sackville Drive
The repaving map of Sackville Drive. (HRM Photo) LOWER SACKVILLE: HRM is advising residents of upcoming traffic delays on Sackville Drive, between Beaver Bank Road and Florence Street. These traffic delays are required to facilitate road maintenance and infrastructure work as part of the Sackville Drive repaving and maintenance project. Work is expected to begin in the coming weeks and is anticipated to be completed in fall 2026.

(Submitted photo) FALL RIVER: Elizabeth Fanok brought home three gold medals from the Pan American Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe Championships in Montreal, highlighted by a dominant victory in the women’s K1 1,000-metre event. Representing the Banook Canoe Club, Fanok won the K1 1,000m race by an impressive 19.22 seconds. The Fall River resident also captured gold in the K2 1,000m and K4 500m events.

Born with a rare immune disorder known as X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA), years of health complications have left Gavin with severe lung damage.

The 9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline, which launched in 2023, provides support through calls and texts. The province and federal government have renewed a memorandum of understanding to ensure continued access for Nova Scotians.
