The Mako Reactor
Online/Digital
Founded in June 2019, The Mako Reactor started out as a publication focussed on Japanese games and developers. Our aim is to highlight games and developers from Japan through interviews, breaking news, features, and more. Feel free to get in touch with us here if you’re in Japan and developing a game on any platform. We cover everything from the Japanese games you enjoy playing to video game music releases on vinyl and when you can expect the new Japanese games to release in India. Source

Fate/Samurai Remnant from Koei Tecmo is now available on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam worldwide. Having already played the PC version through a preview build on Steam Deck, I was mostly curious about how the game would be on consoles. The 120hz support on PC got me thinking about potential support for that on PS5, but I didn’t really have any expectations.
Silent Hope Steam Deck and Switch Review
When Xseed Games revealed Silent Hope during a Nintendo Direct, it looked interesting, but I was very curious about it once the publisher confirmed that it takes place in the same universe as Rune Factory. Silent Hope is a new action RPG from Marvelous that has a very charming aesthetic, great music, fun gameplay, but one that doesn’t really do anything special.

Disgaea 7 Vows of the Virtueless Steam Deck Review PS5 Switch
Disgaea 7 Vows of the Virtueless from NIS and NIS America has finally arrived in the West on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam following its console debut in Japan earlier this year. Disgaea 7 in a lot of ways feels like a big step in the right direction that builds on the base laid by Disgaea 6. I liked Disgaea 6, but didn’t love it as much as prior games. I was hopeful for Disgaea 7, and it has delivered based on my time with it on PS5, Switch, and Steam Deck.
The Legend of Legacy HD Remastered Early 2024 • The Mako Reactor
The Legend of Legacy HD Remastered from Furyu is coming to modern platforms early 2024 through NIS America. I liked The Legend of Legacy’s soundtrack quite a bit on 3DS, but the game had its own issues. Hopefully the HD remaster also adds in some quality of life improvements when it releases in early 2024 for PS5, PS4, Switch, and PC. Watch the trailer below: The Legend of Legacy HD Remastered is getting a limited edition on all consoles. Check it out below: Wishlist the game on Steam here.
Pikmin 4 Review - One of the Best Switch Games of 2023
Pikmin 4 has been weird to follow pre-release as someone who bounced off Pikmin 3 Deluxe and had never played prior games in the series before. Nintendo’s real-time strategy series had its newest mainline game hit Nintendo Switch about two months ago following a meaty demo, and I’ve finally gotten around to playing it.
Pokemon Violet The Teal Mask Switch Review
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet from Game Freak, Nintendo, and The Pokemon Company launched almost one year ago on Nintendo Switch. If you’ve not gotten it yet, read my Pokemon Violet review here. About a week ago, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero – Part 1 The Teal Mask DLC went live alongside a major update. When I played Pokemon Violet, I liked a lot of the new generation of Pokemon, but it had abysmal performance and technical issues.
