In early 2024, Tyger Adoure-Zehaim was doing what she always did: caring for others. As an inpatient pediatric nurse for kids with cystic fibrosis and mother to two boys aged 3 and 6, she was used to running on little sleep and having even less time for herself. So, when she started experiencing persistent lower back pain, unexplained weight loss, and a lingering cough, she chalked it up to the demands of her job, her busy life as a mom, and old dancing injuries.
