SRU delivers strong showing at home invitational

The Slippery Rock University men’s outdoor track and field team tallied 28 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying marks along with two National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) marks when The Rock hosted the John Papa Invitational on Thursday.
Fast start sends Slippery Rock past Edinboro

Eddie Calancy/The Rocket The No. 7 Slippery Rock University women’s lacrosse team made quick work of Edinboro University on Wednesday, rolling to a 24-2 victory at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division play.
“GRAPPLING” - The Rocket
On April 16 and 17, The New Hazlett Theater will present “GRAPPLING,” a dance show created by Erin Kouwe, an assistant professor of dance at Slippery Rock University. Kouwe is the creator and one of the performers in this show. “Anchored by Kouwe’s background in choreography and personal narrative, GRAPPLING explores how implanted memories affect productivity in an interstellar landscape,” says a press release from Krista Ream.
Rock tennis falls 4-3 in heartbreaker at rival IUP

The Slippery Rock University tennis team was defeated on Wednesday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West matchup against Indiana University (Pa.). SRU and IUP met three times last season, with each contest coming down to the final point.
Cavenaugh leads as Rock rolls past Gannon and Edinboro

Slippery Rock softball swept Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West rival Gannon University on Saturday at Kasnevich Field before taking another two-game win against Edinboro University the next day. The weekend wins bring the team to a record of 20-10 overall and 14-2 inside the conference.
Student organizations host Telethon benefitting Butler County Humane Society
Members of Lambda Pi Eta and WSRU-TV stand in Maltby TV studio after the Telethon. Both organizations regularly hold meetings throughout the semester. Jacob Bennefield/The Rocket On Friday, April 10, Lambda Pi Eta and WSRU-TV collaborated to host the Telethon, a 24-hour livestream to raise awareness and donations toward the Butler County Humane Society. Lambda Pi Eta is the honor society for The Communication Association.
Rock drops four-game series to Gannon

Due to a rainy Friday evening, the Slippery Rock baseball team shifted their four-game series against Gannon University. SRU hosted Gannon for a doubleheader on Saturday to then travel to McConnell Family Stadium for another doubleheader on Sunday.
Police Blotter 04/07/2026
April 2nd- University Police responded to a two-vehicle accident on Keister Road. Officers arrived on the scene and spoke with both vehicle operators who were uninjured and refused medical treatment. The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) were notified and responded due to the accident having occurred within Slippery Rock Township jurisdiction.

Fisher is known for being part of the cast of Teen Beach Movie and Liv and Maddie, as well as winning Dancing with the Stars.
