Julianna Burmesch Photo/John Burmesch University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point alumna Julianna Burmesch is set to release a memoir detailing her experiences with childhood trauma and recovery on June 23, 2026. “Life With Less of Me”focuses on her childhood with an unpredictable father and its impact on her family. She grew up with abuse and neglect, and her memoir examines how she has managed the effects of trauma. While writing her memoir, she enrolled in trauma therapy to help finish the book.

UW-Stevens Point at Wausau UWSP/Photo Starting fall in 2026, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Wausau will move in with the Northcentral Technical College. The relocation announcement was made in fall 2025, allowing a full year for students, faculty, and the community to prepare for the upcoming change.

Easton Hull and Alexis Winecke Photos/UWSP Athletics The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point wrestlers, Easton Hull and Alexis Winecke, both took seventh place at nationals and earned All-American titles. The UWSP men’s wrestling team finished the NCAA Regional VII Championships, sending four wrestlers, Hull, Riese Thornberry, Caleb Nobiling, and Dylan Cariveau, to the NCAA Championships.

Red Sand in the Sidewalk Photo/Abigail Holmes The University Council on Family Relations will host its first Red Sand Project human trafficking panel April 23 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Dreyfus University Center Theater. In the weeks before and after the panel, the UCFR will hand out Red Bags for students, faculty and the community to spread through the sidewalk cracks.

90 FM WWSP Station Photo/Abbey Holmes “The Love Contest,” 90FM WWSP’s 56th annual 54-hour World’s Largest Trivia Contest, returns April 17–19, continuing its tradition of connecting the community through trivia. The theme is picked yearly by 90FM’s trivia coordinator and question writer, Dave Coulthurst, who has been co-writing for the contest since 2023. “The theme for Trivia 56: The Love Contest is, well, love. It’s about spending a weekend with the people you love.

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Child Learning and Care Center is celebrating the Week of the Young Child April 13-17. It will hold its annual art show April 16 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Dreyfus University Center. UCLCC has hosted its art show for 14 years. This year it will be hosted in the DUC with hopes that UWSP students, faculty and community members will attend the event.

Old Main University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point Website/Photo In compliance with Act 15, the Universities of Wisconsin system is implementing new general education requirements affective September 1, 2026. Act 15, passed the Wisconsin State Legislature on July 3, 2025. The biennial budget requires that Universities of Wisconsin schools accept each other’s general education requirements to ease transferability. This new program is referred to as the Core General Education Requirements, or CGER.

His leadership will start July 1, 2026. Brinkmann has held the position of dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Northern Illinois University since 2022. He focused on collaborative sustainability initiatives.
