Fitting, given that Homer is listed on its IMDB page: Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey finally settles an age-old question. In a shocking turn of events, acting is important for movies! Perhaps no cinematic fact has been shouted in my general direction more than the fact that the film is the first of its kind to be “entirely shot” in IMAX. IMAX cameras apparently need to be reloaded every 3 minutes or so.
Omaha joins Lincoln in restoring $15 minimum wage for all workers
The Omaha City Council on Tuesday followed its counterpart in Lincoln and passed a local ordinance keeping its minimum wage at $15 an hour for all workers. The council voted 4-3 to approve the ordinance after rejecting a proposal to put it on file, which would have essentially delayed a decision until a later date, giving Omaha a chance to see what happens in the state’s case against Lincoln.
Pete Buttigieg stumps for Nebraska CD2 candidate Denise Powell in South Omaha
A race of national significance brought a nationally known Democrat to South Omaha Tuesday. Former U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg endorsed Democratic 2nd District Congressional nominee Denise Powell at a campaign event held in Metro Community College’s Center for Advanced Manufacturing.

Director and star Olivia Wilde makes a strong case that the unintentionally hilarious Don’t Worry Darling was the anomaly on her filmography and not the intentionally hilarious Booksmart. The Invite is not hilarious. It is billed as a comedy. This is because “husband and wife bicker” is a primordial humorous premise.
Workforce Pell Grants starting in Nebraska with four programs at MCC
Workforce Pell Grants will soon be available for four short-term programs at Omaha’s Metropolitan Community College. The four programs are certification for pharmacy technicians, phlebotomy technicians who draw blood, a commercial driver’s license (CDL) and a technology-related program called CompTIA+. The Working Families Tax Cuts Act that passed in 2025 allowed for aid to go to students enrolling in short-term programs aimed at entering the workforce quickly.
‘Monumental opportunity’: Omaha Inland Port Authority unveils plans for innovation district
The Omaha Inland Port Authority unveiled the location for its headquarters Tuesday morning, a major step in the publicly funded entity’s mission to grow economic opportunity in north and east Omaha. The group’s headquarters and innovation district will be built near Ames and North 28th avenues on a site zoned for commercial and light industrial uses. A “creative construction campus” will be the highlight of the district. The campus will develop training and businesses in 3D-printed homebuilding.
Pete Buttigieg to campaign in Omaha for Denise Powell in CD2 race
Pete Buttigieg, a former U.S. transportation secretary and 2020 Democratic candidate for president, will be in Omaha in mid-July to campaign for Denise Powell. The Democratic candidate for Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District made the announcement Tuesday morning on her social media. The event featuring the two Democrats is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, at noon. Doors are scheduled to open at 11:15 a.m. Event coordinators haven’t disclosed where the event will be held.

Yolonda Ross was already a film-television veteran when cast on Showtime’s “The Chi,” but the Omaha native gained new fame playing series regular Jada Washington. She left cable’s longest-running Black drama at the end of season seven when Jada lost her long cancer battle. The eighth and final season concludes July 24.
