The Presidency has alleged that former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is employing claims about threats to his life as part of a political strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections. Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communications, made the allegation in a post on his verified X account on Saturday.

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has said he will not investigate his predecessor, former Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, despite claiming to possess documents detailing alleged misconduct during the previous administration. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has carried out an on-the-spot assessment of communities affected by heavy rainfall and flooding in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State. The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has ordered the final forfeiture of 52 terrace and maisonette units in Lekki to the Federal Government after ruling that the properties were proceeds of unlawful activities. Justice Alexandra Owoeye delivered the judgment on July 15, granting an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) involving the properties located at Mercyville Estate, Covenant Way, off New Road, Ilasan, Lagos.
