The Phuket Gazette was the island’s legacy media since 1993, the first island English-speaking newspaper. It was owned, managed and nurtured for the entire time by island long-termer John Magee. Although the newspaper closed its 23 year print run in April 2017, the digital assets of the website, social media pages and YouTube live on under new management of The Thaiger Pte Ltd.
Thaiger started in Phuket in October 2016, initially as a new FM radio station for the island. The Thaiger Pte Ltd is now registered in Singapore and provides Thailand and SE Asia with the next generation of media – news, lifestyle, restaurant reviews, Top Tens, travel info, free classifieds and much more.
Thaiger news is short, to-the-point, mobile-first, accurate and timely. Not only do we get you the main news stories first, we also update them more often. Additionally we have a huge resource of information about Thailand and the region.
Thaiger separated its Thai-language news section in August 2020 to form the new Tadoo news and e-commerce brand.
Thaiger now provides four Facebook pages, an English YouTube channel, Instagram and Twitter. Thaiger also launched Thaiger LIFE (expat and English-speaking services) and Thaiger LIVE (24/7 news streaming) products in September, 2020.
Initially based in Phuket, Thaiger is now a Thailand and regional portal providing a daily one-stop-shop for news, information and lifestyle. Thaiger’s main office is in Bangkok’s Asoke district. Source

Interpol-wanted Swedish mafia arrested in Phuket condominium
A Swedish national wanted under an Interpol Red Notice was arrested in Phuket yesterday, April 9, for involvement in murder, illegal weapons offences, and drug trafficking in Sweden. Phuket Provincial Police carried out the operation as part of a wider crackdown on foreign nationals involved in crime, including suspects who fled their home countries or used Thailand as a base for transnational offences.

In the footage posted by แจ็ค โพธิ์แดง, the rider, who was carrying a passenger, appears to reach out and slap the tourist on the head as they pass.
Pak Chong petrol station fined 2.5 million baht for smuggled diesel
A petrol station in Pak Chong district, Nakhon Ratchasima, faced a fine of more than 2.5 million baht for distributing 24,000 litres of smuggled diesel. The Excise Department Region 3 set up a special team to monitor and suppress fuel-related offences during Thailand’s energy crisis. Officers later identified suspicious activity at a petrol station on the Friendship Highway in Pak Chong district. The suspicion led to a raid on the station, where officers found 24,000 litres of diesel.

Charging power bank blamed for Nakhon Ratchasima condo fire

Police and rescue workers responded to reports of a fire at the building in Nai Mueang subdistrict. Firefighters and municipal teams were deployed to the sixth floor, where the blaze had broken out inside a room. Residents were evacuated via fire escape stairs as alarms were activated.
