A trailer driver attached to Yaobai Cement Company is on the run after fatally knocking down a police officer along the Kampala–Masaka highway. The tragic incident occurred when the trailer, reportedly speeding, lost control and hit the officer who was on duty at the time. According to preliminary reports, the driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, leaving the trailer at the site. Police have since launched a manhunt for the driver to assist with investigations.

President Yoweri Museveni has thrown his weight behind a proposal to introduce a single East African entry visa for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which Uganda will co-host alongside Kenya and Tanzania. The President made the endorsement during a meeting with Uganda’s AFCON Local Organising Committee at State House in Entebbe on Wednesday. “This is common sense. I support it [single entry visa],” Museveni said, according to a State House statement.
