Campaigns encouraging people to buy Ugandan have helped keep local production in the public conversation. The next question is whether awareness alone can create lasting demand. For many consumers, the issue may be less about willingness to buy local and more about how easily they can find, understand and purchase what is already being made. A product can be well made, competitively priced and locally produced, yet still lose the sale if it is difficult to discover or access.

Members of the Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) have called for the immediate and unconditional release of their colleague Remmy Asiteza, who was reportedly detained on the instructions of Minister for the Presidency Milly Babalanda.
